Thailand Commemorates 36th Anniversary of Seub Nakhasathien

On September 1, 2026, Thailand marked the 36th anniversary of the passing of Seub Nakhasathien, the former chief of the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary. According to Khaosod Online, a commemorative ceremony was held at the Seub Nakhasathien Memorial in Uthai Thani province.

Darika Saranket, advisor to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, presided over the wreath-laying ceremony. The event was attended by provincial officials, members of the Nakhasathien family, the Seub Nakhasathien Foundation, and various conservation groups, students, and local residents. The program included religious merit-making rites, the presentation of the 'Seub Chetanarak Huai Kha Khaeng' scholarships, and educational exhibitions on natural resource conservation. A candlelight vigil was also held the previous evening to honor his memory.

For residents and travelers, this event highlights the enduring cultural and environmental significance of the Huai Kha Khaeng area, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
