Thailand Bids to Host 2027 Women’s Volleyball Nations League

According to Khaosod Online, the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA) is actively pursuing the opportunity to host the 2027 Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL). TVA President Somporn Chaibangyang stated that the organization has presented two potential hosting scenarios: securing the second week of the tournament or bidding for the final round.

While Macau currently holds the contract for the finals, the TVA noted that Volleyball World has offered to facilitate discussions should Thailand wish to pursue that option. The association is currently coordinating with the Minister of Tourism and Sports to secure necessary funding, particularly from the National Sports Development Fund. The Minister has reportedly expressed support for hosting major international sporting events that generate significant public interest.

For residents and visitors, this initiative highlights Thailand’s ongoing commitment to becoming a hub for international sports. Hosting such events typically brings increased tourism and visibility to the host cities. However, the final decision remains pending. The TVA is prioritizing these events as part of a strategic plan to prepare younger athletes for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, following the team's participation in the 2026 season.
