Volunteer Housing Project Completed in Ayutthaya Following Recipient's Passing
A volunteer housing initiative by the Central Investigation Bureau has been completed in Ayutthaya, though the intended recipient passed away before moving in.
On September 1, 2026, representatives from the Anti-Corruption Division (ACD) and the Anti-Corruption Volunteer Club officially handed over a newly constructed home in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. The project, part of a Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) volunteer initiative, was intended for 69-year-old Mr. Kamol Chanso, who had been suffering from colon cancer and kidney disease.
According to Khaosod Online, Mr. Kamol had been undergoing continuous medical treatment and lacked stable housing prior to the project. Tragically, he passed away in early July 2026, before he could occupy the new residence. His daughter, 47-year-old Ms. Sulawan Chanso, accepted the home and essential supplies on behalf of the family. The house is located on land belonging to Wat Bamrung Tham in Ban Mai sub-district.
For residents and visitors, this event highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement and volunteer groups to address housing insecurity among vulnerable populations in Thailand. While the specific medical challenges faced by the late Mr. Kamol underscore the difficulties of managing chronic illnesses without stable living conditions, the project serves as a community support model.
