Phana Cooperative Settlement Promotes Year-Round Vegetable Farming

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Phana Cooperative Settlement in Amnat Charoen province is actively addressing the financial instability faced by local farmers. With approximately 45,000 rai of land—of which 30,000 rai is allocated to members in plots of up to 50 rai each—the settlement has traditionally relied on seasonal rice and crop farming.

Wasana Khambut, Director of the Phana Cooperative Settlement, noted that reliance on seasonal harvests leaves families vulnerable to unpredictable weather patterns and income gaps between harvest cycles. To stabilize household finances, the cooperative is now promoting the cultivation of safe and organic vegetables. This initiative aims to provide members with consistent daily or weekly income, rather than relying solely on annual crop yields.

For residents and visitors, this shift highlights a growing trend in regional agricultural development toward sustainability and food security. By diversifying crops, the community aims to create a more resilient local economy.
