Thai Athletes Head to Japan for Pre-Asian Games Training

Thai national teams, including the Asian champion women's volleyball squad, are traveling to Japan early this September to prepare for the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya.

According to Khaosod Online, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has announced that several national teams are heading to Japan ahead of the 20th Asian Games, scheduled for September 19 to October 4, 2026, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. The women's volleyball team, which recently secured a spot in the LA 2028 Olympics, is set to begin training in Japan on September 4. They will be followed by the boxing, sailing, and windsurfing teams on September 9.

SAT Governor Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee stated that the preparations are proceeding according to plan. The authority has integrated sports science, nutrition, and psychology to ensure athletes reach peak performance. For residents and travelers in Japan, this influx of Thai athletes highlights the regional focus on the upcoming games. While the training schedules are set, the final roster of athletes and specific training venues remain subject to internal team adjustments. This early arrival underscores the importance of acclimatization for the Thai delegation as they aim for success in the multi-sport event.
