Thai Police Crack Down on E-Cigarette Networks
Thai authorities have arrested 151 individuals and seized 140 million baht in illegal e-cigarette products as part of a nationwide operation.
On September 1, 2026, the Royal Thai Police announced the results of a major operation targeting online e-cigarette distribution networks. According to Police Major General Siriwat Deepor, Deputy Spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau has successfully apprehended 151 suspects and confiscated illicit goods valued at over 140 million baht.
Authorities stated that these operations aim to dismantle complex supply chains, ranging from importers to online retailers. Officials highlighted that e-cigarettes are increasingly linked to transnational cybercrime, with social media platforms being used to market products directly to youth. Furthermore, police expressed concern over modified products, such as those containing dangerous substances referred to as "K-pods" or "zombie pods."
For residents and travelers, this crackdown underscores the strict enforcement of anti-vaping laws in Thailand. While the police are actively blocking illegal websites and targeting distribution channels, they acknowledged that enforcing regulations against international platforms remains a significant challenge. The police are also promoting a "digital vaccine" initiative in schools to educate youth on these risks.
