Thai Ministry of Digital Economy Investigates Illegal Data Centers in Bangkok

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Thailand’s Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Chaiyamparn Chidchob, has acknowledged the presence of illegal data centers operating within Bangkok. The Ministry is currently conducting an investigation to determine if these facilities are involved in unauthorized fuel hoarding or if they are operating in violation of foreign investment regulations.

Ekniti Nitithanprapas, a key official, is scheduled to discuss the matter with the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) following the next Cabinet meeting. The primary objective of these discussions is to establish regulatory order, as initial inspections have revealed that several of these facilities lack the necessary documentation and official certifications required for operation.
