Proposed Five-Year Factory Fee Waiver for Southern Thailand

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Minister of Industry Varawut Silpa-archa has submitted a proposal to the mobile Cabinet meeting held in Songkhla. The initiative seeks to extend the waiver of factory-related fees for businesses operating in the three southernmost provinces—Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala—as well as four districts in Songkhla: Chana, Thepha, Na Thawi, and Saba Yoi.

If approved, this measure will remain in effect for five years, with retroactive application starting from June 20, 2026. The exemption covers a wide range of administrative costs, including fees for factory operation licenses, factory expansions, license transfers, machinery adjustments, building extensions, and annual operational fees.

For residents and those involved in the local economy, this proposal aims to reduce operational costs for entrepreneurs in the region, potentially fostering a more stable business environment. While the Ministry of Industry has formally proposed the extension, it is important to note that the measure is currently awaiting final approval from the Cabinet.
