Toyota Vietnam Secures Approval for Major EV Production Expansion
Toyota Motor Vietnam has received official approval to invest over $283 million in a new facility in Phu Tho Province, targeting an annual production capacity of 52,000 electric vehicles.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, citing Tuoi Tre News, Toyota Motor Vietnam has been granted approval for an investment project valued at approximately 9.38 billion baht (over $283 million USD). The project, authorized by the Phu Tho Province People's Committee, involves the expansion of the company's manufacturing capabilities for both conventional vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs).
The initiative includes the construction of a facility spanning 28.6 hectares, designed to produce 52,000 vehicles annually. Beyond assembly and production, the expanded scope of the investment covers the manufacturing of automotive parts, vehicle repair services, insurance offerings, and the importation of completely built-up units. The company aims to modernize its production lines to support the transition toward environmentally friendly automotive technologies.
