A rare, golden-colored soft-shelled turtle was found in a rice field in Phetchabun, sparking local excitement and speculation about its origins.
On August 31, 2026, a resident in Nong Khwai, Lom Sak District, Phetchabun, reported the discovery of an unusually large, golden-colored soft-shelled turtle in a field behind his home. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the homeowner, Police Lieutenant Prasert Phoseng, initially mistook the creature for a fish before realizing it was a turtle.
What makes this discovery notable is the turtle's distinct golden hue and its docile behavior; the owner reported that it was easily captured with a net without attempting to flee. The turtle measures approximately 22 centimeters by 15 centimeters across its shell.
