Huai Khwang Police Launch Four-Week Crackdown on Local Entertainment Venues
Authorities have charged eight individuals following a raid on the '577' pub, as police initiate a month-long inspection of 40 entertainment venues in the Huai Khwang district.
On August 31, 2026, Pol. Col. Kamphon Rattanapratip, acting superintendent of Huai Khwang Police Station, announced a four-week initiative to regulate 40 entertainment venues within the district. This operation follows a recent raid on the '577' pub by administrative officials.
According to Khaosod Online, investigators have submitted a case to the district court involving eight suspects. The charges include operating an entertainment venue without a license and selling alcohol beyond legal hours, to which the Thai owner has confessed. Additionally, two Hong Kong nationals were charged with the use of Category 1 narcotics (ecstasy), and five other individuals were charged with working as aliens without a permit.
For residents and travelers, this crackdown signals increased police presence and potential disruptions to nightlife operations in the Huai Khwang area over the coming month. Authorities are currently investigating broader issues, including the involvement of business partners, narcotics distribution, and the use of Chinese payment applications. Notably, police have stated that the identity of an individual referred to as 'Joe DS' remains unconfirmed at this stage. As investigations continue, visitors should be aware that further inspections of local venues may occur.
