Thailand’s Public Debt Office Announces Second Sustainability-Linked Bond Issuance

The Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) is launching a 15-year Sustainability-Linked Bond (SLB) worth 15–30 billion baht, scheduled for sale on September 17, 2026.

According to Prachachat Business, the Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) of Thailand has initiated a domestic roadshow for its second Sustainability-Linked Bond (SLB). The new issuance is a 15-year bond with a total value ranging between 15 billion and 30 billion baht, set to be available for purchase starting September 17, 2026.

Jindarat Viriyataweekul, Director of the PDMO, stated that the bond includes specific sustainability performance targets. If the government fails to meet the two established goals, the interest rate on the bond will increase by 0.05%.

For residents and investors in Thailand, this issuance represents a continued effort by the government to integrate environmental and social governance into national debt management. While the bond is primarily a financial instrument, such initiatives often reflect broader government priorities regarding sustainable development and fiscal policy.

At this stage, the specific details regarding the two sustainability targets have not been fully detailed in the initial report. Potential investors should monitor official PDMO announcements for the final terms and conditions of the bond sale as the September 17 date approaches.
