Violent Assault Reported at Phetchabun Grocery Store
A 31-year-old man was hospitalized after being attacked with a knife at a grocery store in Nong Phai district, Phetchabun province.
On August 30, 2026, a violent assault occurred at a grocery store in Moo 4, Wang Tha Di sub-district, Nong Phai, Phetchabun. According to Khaosod Online, 31-year-old Jakkrit was attacked while purchasing a lighter. The store owner, Komsan, reported that a 29-year-old man identified as Kanatthanon approached the victim on a motorcycle, drew a one-foot-long pointed knife, and struck the victim multiple times on the head. The victim fled the scene, and the assailant subsequently departed on his motorcycle. Local residents provided initial first aid before the victim was transported to Nong Phai Hospital.
The victim stated that he had no prior conflict with the assailant. The store owner suggested the attack may have been a case of mistaken identity, possibly involving the victim’s association with a rival group.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights an isolated act of public violence. While the motive remains under investigation, the event serves as a reminder to remain aware of one's surroundings in public spaces. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage captured during the incident.
