Anti-Corruption Agency Investigates Illegal Logging at Kalasin School
Authorities are investigating the unauthorized felling of trees at a school in Kalasin province following allegations that timber was sold to private investors.
On August 31, 2026, officials from the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Region 4 launched an investigation into the illegal cutting of trees at Kamalasai School in Kalasin province. The inquiry follows reports that timber from the school grounds was sold to private investors.
According to Khaosod Online, PACC investigators visited the site to collect evidence, accompanied by representatives from the school’s parent-teacher association and alumni. Alumni pointed out 32 locations where trees had been felled, noting that some logs remained on-site, marked with yellow cloth. The investigation specifically concerns tamarind trees estimated to be between 30 and 50 years old.
Local police from Kamalasai Station have begun the legal process by summoning the school director and witnesses for questioning. The PACC has stated that if the investigation confirms corruption, the case will be forwarded to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for further legal action.
For residents and visitors, this case highlights ongoing efforts to protect public assets and environmental resources within educational institutions.
