Man Arrested at Chumphon Hospital Following Violent Altercation
Police in Chumphon arrested a 34-year-old man at a hospital emergency room after he was involved in a violent dispute and found in possession of a firearm and significant ammunition.
On August 31, 2026, police from Sawi Station in Chumphon province apprehended a 34-year-old man, identified as Kittisak, at the Sawi Hospital emergency room. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, authorities were alerted to a disturbance involving an intoxicated individual who had been firing weapons.
Prior to his arrival at the hospital, the suspect had engaged in a physical altercation with his wife’s relatives. The dispute reportedly stemmed from the suspect’s habitual firing of guns, which had caused ongoing fear among his in-laws despite previous attempts to intervene. During the confrontation, the suspect sustained a head injury, necessitating medical treatment at the emergency facility where he was subsequently taken into custody.
Upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, officers discovered a firearm, 93 live rounds of ammunition, and over 1,000 spent shell casings. While the immediate threat has been neutralized by the arrest, the incident highlights concerns regarding the presence of unauthorized firearms in residential areas. For residents and travelers, this serves as a reminder of the importance of local safety awareness.
