On August 31, 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the contract signing ceremony for two major infrastructure projects in Southern Thailand, held at a hotel in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province. These projects are part of a green transport initiative designed to enhance regional connectivity and support local economic development.
The first project involves the construction of a bridge across Songkhla Lake, connecting Krasae Sin District in Songkhla Province with Khao Chaison District in Phatthalung Province. The second project is a bridge connecting Koh Lanta, linking Koh Klang Subdistrict with Koh Lanta Noi in Krabi Province.
For residents and travelers, these bridges are expected to significantly reduce travel times and improve the efficiency of goods transportation between these provinces. The Songkhla-Phatthalung bridge aims to facilitate economic activities for communities surrounding the lake, while the Koh Lanta bridge is intended to improve access to the island, thereby supporting the local tourism sector.
According to Khaosod Online, the Prime Minister has emphasized that these projects must be completed according to the contract schedules.
