Thai Volleyball Enthusiast Plans Ordination Following Olympic Qualification

Following the Thai women's national volleyball team's successful qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Ritchai, known as 'Coach Nueng' and the creator of the 'Kon Khlang Volleyball' channel, has confirmed his intention to fulfill a vow. Before the Asian Championship final, Ritchai publicly promised to enter the monkhood if the team defeated China to secure their Olympic ticket.

After the team achieved their goal, the promise gained attention online. In a lighthearted social media exchange, Wilavan 'Coach Gift' Apinyapong, a legendary former player and current national team staff member, reminded Ritchai of his pledge, to which he confirmed his commitment. Ritchai plans to undergo the ordination ceremony at Wat Sawang Ban Sawang Non Sung in Kalasin Province, tentatively scheduled for after the 2027 New Year festival. He has also announced that all monetary donations received during the ceremony will be donated to the temple for the construction of a new pavilion.
