Songkhla Tourism Rebounds with Strong Revenue Growth
Songkhla province reports a significant tourism recovery in 2026, driven by high visitor numbers from Malaysia, with officials setting ambitious revenue targets for 2027.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, Songkhla’s tourism sector is experiencing a robust recovery following the major floods that impacted the region in late 2025. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), reported that during the first seven months of 2026, the province generated over 32.22 billion baht in tourism revenue from 4.44 million visitor arrivals.
For travelers and residents, this resurgence highlights Songkhla’s continued appeal as a primary destination, particularly for Malaysian tourists, who currently rank the province as their top choice when visiting Thailand. TAT officials project that by the end of 2026, total visitor numbers will reach 7.5 million, potentially generating 55 billion baht in revenue, which would surpass the 54.04 billion baht recorded in 2025.
Looking ahead, the TAT has set an ambitious revenue target of 55.9 billion baht for 2027. While these figures indicate a strong upward trend in the local economy, the final outcomes for the remainder of 2026 and the achievement of the 2027 goals remain subject to ongoing market conditions and the continued influx of international visitors. Travelers planning trips to the region may expect a vibrant atmosphere as the province continues to capitalize on its post-flood recovery efforts.
