Thailand Prepares to Propose Phase 2 of Double-Track Railway Project

According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Thai Ministry of Transport is preparing to present the second phase of the national double-track railway project to the mobile Cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow in Hat Yai. Deputy Minister of Transport Siriphong Angkasakulkiat stated that the proposal involves a budget of 110 billion baht, which is intended to be committed over a five-year period.

The current proposal focuses on two specific railway lines. Notably, the planned route between Hat Yai and Songkhla is not included in this immediate submission, as officials have indicated that this specific section requires further review before it can proceed.

For residents and travelers, this development signals the government's ongoing commitment to expanding rail infrastructure, which aims to improve connectivity and logistics efficiency across the country.
