Ministry of Transport Agrees to Study Southern Development Master Plan

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Deputy Minister of Transport Siriphong Angkasakulkiat recently chaired a meeting with the SEC Watch group to discuss the future development of Southern Thailand. Both parties reached a consensus to initiate a comprehensive master plan for the region.

Key to this initiative is the commitment to public participation. The Ministry has stated that if local residents do not support specific aspects of the plan, those components will be canceled. During the meeting, officials clarified that there were no discussions regarding the revival of the Chana Industrial Estate project or the construction of a new deep-sea port in Songkhla.

For residents and travelers, this development signals a shift toward a more consultative approach to regional infrastructure. While the government is moving forward with the planning phase, the specific scope and timeline of the master plan remain to be confirmed.
