Pattaya Authorities Conduct Beach Sweep Ahead of U.S. Military Arrival
Pattaya police and social development officials detained 25 individuals for alleged prostitution on Pattaya Beach as the city prepares for the arrival of 5,000 U.S. military personnel.
On August 30, 2026, a joint task force led by Chonburi’s Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and Pattaya City Police conducted an operation to address illegal prostitution along Pattaya Beach and Second Road. According to Khaosod Online, the sweep resulted in the detention of 25 individuals: 18 Thai nationals, 5 Laotian nationals, and 2 Ugandan nationals.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Siriwat Kachamat stated that this operation is part of routine enforcement efforts to maintain the city's image and ensure public safety. The increased frequency of these patrols is specifically timed to coincide with the upcoming arrival of 5,000 U.S. military personnel scheduled to visit the area for rest and recreation. Authorities emphasized that they intend to continue monitoring high-risk areas to uphold local regulations.
