A couple in Ayutthaya discovered and returned over 3 million baht in cash and checks scattered across the Asia Highway, earning praise for their integrity.
On August 29, 2026, a car dealership owner named Somkid Sae-Kim and his wife were traveling along the Asia Highway in the Bang Pa-in district of Ayutthaya province when they encountered a significant amount of cash scattered across the road. According to a report by Khaosod Online, the couple stopped their vehicle at kilometer marker 14 to collect the items, which included numerous 1,000-baht banknotes, a bag, documents, and two signed checks. The total value of the recovered property was estimated at over 3 million baht.
Mr. Somkid and his wife promptly turned the items over to the local police to ensure they were returned to their rightful owner. The owner of the funds later explained that the money was intended for business operations and that its loss would have caused severe financial hardship. Despite the owner's attempt to offer a reward, the couple declined, stating that the money did not belong to them and had to be returned.
