The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) released Announcement No. 7 (174/2569) on August 29, 2026, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across much of Thailand. This weather pattern is expected to persist from August 29 through September 2, 2026.

According to Khaosod Online, the heavy rain is driven by a monsoon trough moving across the upper North and Northeast, combined with a strong southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. The TMD specifically highlighted the western parts of the North and Central regions, the upper Northeast, and the East as areas of concern.

For travelers and residents, the primary risks include flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in low-lying areas and regions near mountain slopes. Additionally, the upper Andaman Sea is experiencing waves between 2 and 3 meters high, with waves exceeding 3 meters in areas affected by thunderstorms.
