According to a report by Khaosod Online, Jessica Fletcher, a mother in Canada, has taken a unique approach to support her 11-year-old son, Hunter, who is autistic and non-verbal. After Hunter’s electronic communication device ran out of battery during a meal, he improvised by drawing a keyboard on a napkin to point out his needs. This incident prompted Fletcher to tattoo a permanent keyboard on her arm, featuring letters, emojis, and phrases like “I Heart You.”

This method allows for more private, intimate communication, as it avoids the loud, automated voice output of traditional devices, enabling the pair to “whisper” through touch. The first word Hunter typed on his mother’s arm was “Mama.” Following the positive impact of this solution, Fletcher has begun creating t-shirts featuring keyboard designs for other parents of autistic children.
