Fire Incident at Khlong Thom Center: Damage and Impact Report
A major fire at the Khlong Thom Center in Bangkok resulted in significant property damage and nine injuries, prompting an investigation into the cause.
On the evening of August 28, 2026, a fire broke out at the Khlong Thom Center, a well-known commercial hub located on Worachak Road in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district of Bangkok. According to the Bangkok Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, the blaze began at approximately 8:42 PM.
Emergency responders from the Suan Mali Fire and Rescue Station were deployed to the scene to contain the fire. The incident affected a three-story building and spread to two adjacent four-story shophouses. By the time the fire was brought under control, it had caused extensive damage across an area of approximately one rai (1,600 square meters). Authorities reported that nine individuals sustained injuries during the event.
Preliminary findings suggest the fire originated on the first floor. The presence of large quantities of electronic equipment, audio systems, and IT hardware—which acted as highly combustible fuel—contributed to the intensity and duration of the blaze.
For residents and travelers, this area is a popular destination for electronics and hardware. While the immediate fire has been extinguished, the site remains a restricted zone due to the structural damage. Visitors should avoid the vicinity of Worachak Road until local authorities declare the area safe.
