On August 28, 2026, a dramatic emergency unfolded in Khon Kaen when a pickup truck, reportedly rushing a pregnant woman to the hospital, lost control and struck a utility pole near the Muang Kao housing estate U-turn. According to reports from Khaosod Online, the Sawang Khon Kaen Samakkhi Uthit Foundation rescue team received a notification at 10:43 a.m. to assist the victims.
Upon arrival, responders discovered that the pregnant woman had given birth to a baby girl inside the vehicle at approximately 10:20 a.m. In total, six individuals were involved in the accident. The mother and her newborn were reported to be in stable condition, despite the mother sustaining minor abrasions. Four other passengers, including two women aged 40–50 and a man aged 30–40, also sustained minor injuries such as lacerations and abrasions, but remained conscious and alert.
