Thailand’s National Village Fund Board Approves Over 1 Billion Baht for Grassroots Economy

The National Village and Urban Community Fund (NVCF) has greenlit a major stimulus package to strengthen local economies across Thailand.

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the National Village and Urban Community Fund (NVCF) board, chaired by Minister to the Prime Minister's Office Suksomruay Wantaneeyakul, has approved a significant financial injection to support grassroots economic development. During the 7/2026 board meeting, officials authorized the 'SML Plus' project, allocating 1,009,600,000 baht to fund 5,461 individual community initiatives nationwide.

In addition to the SML Plus funding, the board approved 743 million baht for the 'Thai Helps Thai' capital increase program, which will be distributed in three phases. The Office of the National Village and Urban Community Fund (NVCF Office) has been instructed to expedite the review of project applications by the end of September to ensure that funds reach local communities as quickly as possible.

For residents and those interested in Thailand’s economic landscape, these measures represent a concerted effort to bolster local infrastructure and community-led business ventures. While the approval marks a significant step in government support for rural and urban community funds, the specific timeline for the full disbursement of these funds remains subject to the completion of the application review process by the NVCF Office. Observers will be watching to see how effectively these capital injections stimulate local commerce in the coming months.
