The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has issued a warning for heavy rainfall and potential flash floods across 51 provinces from August 29 to September 2, 2026.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued an urgent weather alert for 51 provinces across Thailand. The warning, effective from August 29 through September 2, 2026, highlights an increased risk of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and water accumulation.
The National Disaster Warning Center has identified specific regions as high-risk areas. In Northern Thailand, residents and travelers in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Tak are advised to exercise extreme caution. In the Northeast, provinces including Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, and Sakon Nakhon are also under close monitoring.
For those currently in or planning to travel to these regions, this alert is significant as it may lead to sudden road closures, disruptions in local transportation, and hazardous conditions in mountainous or low-lying areas. The DDPM has instructed local authorities to remain on standby 24 hours a day to respond to potential emergencies.
