Investigation Launched After Illegal Club Raid in Huai Khwang

Following a joint operation dubbed 'Sing Prab Mangkon Thamin' (Lion Defeats Dark Dragon), the Metropolitan Police Bureau has ordered a formal investigation into the Superintendent of Huai Khwang Police Station. The inquiry, which must conclude within seven days, follows a raid on the '577 CLUB' led by Deputy Interior Ministers Phonphi Suwannachawi and Worasit Liangprasit, alongside the Department of Provincial Administration’s DOPA S.W.A.T. team.

According to Khaosod Online, authorities discovered the venue operating without a license and remaining open until dawn. Inside, officials found 132 patrons—65 Thai nationals and 67 Chinese nationals—with three individuals testing positive for narcotics. Officers also seized two bags of ketamine and noted the use of e-cigarettes on the premises. Deputy Minister Phonphi noted that the venue had been previously shut down last year but had resumed operations. Investigators are currently examining reports of foreign staff, the use of Chinese payment applications, and allegations regarding individuals claiming to provide police protection for the establishment.

For residents and travelers, this incident highlights ongoing enforcement efforts against unlicensed nightlife venues. While the investigation is underway, it remains to be confirmed who the actual owners are and whether any local officials were involved in facilitating the club's continued operation despite its prior closure.
