A visitor from Laos reported discovering lucky numbers at the Kham Chanod sacred site in Udon Thani during a recent Buddhist holy day.
On August 28, 2026, which coincided with the full moon of the ninth lunar month, visitors gathered at the Kham Chanod forest in Udon Thani province to pay respects to the site's legendary serpent deities. According to a report by Khaosod Online, the site saw relatively low visitor numbers despite the proximity to the upcoming September 1 national lottery draw.
Among those present was a tourist from Laos who, during her first visit to the site, claimed to have discovered the number '570' while rubbing the bark of a large fig tree near the bridge surrounding the island. She expressed a belief that the deities had provided her with a sign of good fortune. Additionally, at the ceremonial plaza, a local ritual leader (Pho Jam) examined the water in a ceremonial bowl, interpreting the candle wax patterns as the numbers '983' and '987'.
For travelers and residents, Kham Chanod remains a significant cultural and spiritual destination. While these reports of 'lucky numbers' are a common aspect of local folklore and lottery culture in Thailand, they are based on personal interpretation and belief.
