Participants, including local tourism operators such as hotel staff, tuk-tuk drivers, and tour guides, shared accounts of tourists allegedly disregarding Thai laws, local customs, and community norms. A primary point of contention raised during the forum was the behavior of some Israeli tourists. One speaker noted that with approximately 1,000 Israeli visitors arriving weekly via three flights, many stay for extended periods, leading to concerns about competition for local jobs and long-term residency impacts.
The group is calling on the government to limit visa durations for Israeli nationals to 15 days, arguing that the island should prioritize tourists who visit for short-term leisure rather than those who remain long-term. For travelers and residents, this highlights growing local sensitivity regarding tourism management and the enforcement of regulations. It remains to be confirmed whether the government will consider these specific visa policy requests or if further public demonstrations will occur.
