Thailand Graduates 271st Class of D.A.R.E. Police Instructors
The Metropolitan Police Bureau and partners have concluded the 271st D.A.R.E. training program, certifying 48 new officers to lead drug prevention education.
On August 28, 2026, the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) held a closing ceremony for the 271st class of the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) police instructor training program. According to Khaosod Online, the ten-day intensive course, which ran from August 18 to August 28, 2026, resulted in the certification of 48 officers. The graduates include 37 personnel from the MPB, nine from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, one from the Education Division, and one from the Immigration Bureau.
This initiative aligns with national policies aimed at preventing and addressing drug-related issues through education. During the ceremony, outstanding trainees were recognized for their performance, which was evaluated based on their mastery of the curriculum, professional demeanor, and effectiveness in communicating with students.
For residents and visitors, this development highlights the ongoing commitment of Thai law enforcement to community-based drug prevention strategies. While the program focuses on school-aged children, the presence of these trained officers in various bureaus suggests a continued emphasis on public safety and youth outreach. It remains to be confirmed how these specific graduates will be deployed across different districts and what specific schools or community programs they will prioritize in the coming academic term.
