COVID-19 Cases Rise in Nakhon Ratchasima During Rainy Season
Health officials in Nakhon Ratchasima report a surge in COVID-19 infections, with 1,216 cumulative cases and three deaths recorded since the start of 2026.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 28, 2026, the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Public Health Office has observed a significant increase in COVID-19 infections during the current rainy season. Dr. Wichan Kidhen, the provincial public health chief, stated that between January 1 and August 25, 2026, the province recorded 1,216 cumulative cases and three deaths.
The data indicates a sharp acceleration in transmission starting in July 2026, which saw 274 cases, followed by a peak in August with 807 cases—accounting for approximately 66.3% of the total infections for the year. Despite this surge, health officials noted that the overall figures remain below the five-year median for the region. The Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima district has been identified as the area with the highest number of infections.
