Flash Flood Warnings Issued for Kanchanaburi Waterfalls

On August 28, 2026, the head of Khuean Srinagarindra National Park, Khunakon Boonkuasong, issued a safety advisory for residents and tourists in Kanchanaburi province. Following a week of persistent rainfall, officials have reported rising water levels and strong, murky currents at key natural attractions.

At Pha Tad Waterfall in Thong Pha Phum district, while the site remains open for sightseeing, officials have prohibited swimming at the second and third tiers due to the intensity of the water flow. Meanwhile, at Huai Mae Khamin Waterfall in Si Sawat district, the situation is more restrictive. Heavy rain has caused the water to turn a dark brown color with significant bubbling, and currents have become dangerously swift. Consequently, authorities have advised visitors to refrain from swimming in all seven tiers of the Huai Mae Khamin waterfall.

Residents living along the riverbanks have been urged to monitor the situation closely and move valuable belongings to higher ground as a precaution against potential overflow. Tourists are strictly advised to follow the instructions provided by park rangers and prioritize their safety. As of now, it remains to be confirmed how long these swimming restrictions will remain in place, as the duration depends on future weather conditions and the stabilization of water levels in the affected areas.
