Police Officer Reports Over 400 Unauthorized Foreigners Registered at Private Residence
A police officer in Bangkok discovered that more than 400 foreign nationals were illegally registered at his private home address without his knowledge.
According to a report by Khaosod Online on August 28, 2026, a police officer attached to the Tourist Police Bureau has sought assistance after discovering a major irregularity in his household registration. The officer, who resides in the Wang Thonglang district of Bangkok, received a summons from the local district office regarding an investigation into the unlawful registration and issuance of Thai identification cards to non-Thai nationals.
Upon checking his own household registration, the officer found that over 400 foreign individuals had been registered at his address between 2023 and 2025. The officer stated he had no prior knowledge of these individuals and never authorized their residency. Some of these registrations reportedly originated from the Din Daeng district office, which has been the subject of similar recent reports.
For residents and expatriates, this case highlights potential vulnerabilities in the civil registration system. While this appears to be an isolated case of identity fraud involving property addresses, it underscores the importance of periodically verifying household registration records. As the investigation is ongoing, it remains to be confirmed how these individuals managed to bypass standard verification procedures and whether this is part of a larger organized network.
