Mysterious 'Hong Cave' Legend Resurfaces in Rayong

In the Krachet sub-district of Rayong, local lore surrounding the 'Hong Cave' has gained renewed attention. According to Khaosod Online, residents have long associated the area with mysterious sounds, including bells and traditional Thai music. Recently, a local homeowner reported suffering from unexplained illnesses after filling in a subterranean opening on her property to build a house.

Upon consulting a monk, the homeowner was told that her residence was constructed directly over a vent connected to the 'Hong Cave'—a site some locals believe serves as a passage for mythical Naga serpents linked to the nearby Wat Thong Hong temple. Following the monk's advice to reopen the vent and install an air pipe, the homeowner claimed her health improved significantly.

Village headman Watchara Sawaengswat recently led an inspection of the site, confirming the presence of a large underground cavity with flowing water, which had been partially obstructed by sand. While these accounts are rooted in local folklore and spiritual beliefs, they highlight the deep cultural significance of subterranean geography in the region. For residents and visitors, the site remains a point of curiosity regarding local history and the 'lost' legend of the bronze swan. Whether the underground network connects to the temple or holds geological significance beyond these spiritual interpretations remains to be confirmed by further investigation.
