Police Arrest Trio for Solar Cable Theft in Bangkok
Bangkok authorities have apprehended three individuals accused of stealing solar panel wiring near a major market, causing significant infrastructure damage.
On August 28, 2026, police from the Huai Khwang station arrested three individuals—identified as Surasak (35), Kamalas (24), and Sirilak (24)—for allegedly stealing solar panel electrical cables. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the suspects were apprehended on the median strip of the Asok-Din Daeng road in Bangkok.
Officers recovered tools, screwdrivers, and approximately 2.2 kilograms of copper wire from the group. The suspects are accused of targeting solar infrastructure located behind a prominent market, resulting in damages estimated at hundreds of thousands of baht.
For residents and travelers in the area, this incident highlights the ongoing issue of infrastructure vandalism, which can lead to localized power disruptions or reduced lighting in public spaces.
