Bovornsak Uwanno Criticizes Anti-Corruption Efforts Under Anutin 1 Government
Prominent legal scholar Bovornsak Uwanno has publicly questioned the commitment of the Anutin 1 administration to tackling corruption, citing past failures to establish independent oversight.
According to a report by Thai Post on August 28, 2026, Bovornsak Uwanno, a well-known legal scholar, has expressed skepticism regarding the Anutin 1 government's dedication to anti-corruption measures. Bovornsak alleged that previous attempts to establish an independent committee to investigate graft were unsuccessful under the current administration.
In addition to his critique, Bovornsak has advocated for constitutional amendments, proposing five key changes. These include stripping the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) of its power to organize elections, restoring the public's right to impeach officials, accelerating the timeline for selecting a new Prime Minister, and reforming the recruitment process for independent organizations. He cited academic research indicating that public confidence in these independent bodies has reached a low point.
