Authorities in Kanchanaburi have charged a man and his associate with attempted murder following an acid attack on a 32-year-old woman.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on August 28, 2026, police in Kanchanaburi have officially charged a man identified as Thep and his associate, known as Dam, with attempted murder. The charges follow an incident involving a 32-year-old woman named Namfon, who suffered injuries from an acid attack.
The case gained public attention after Namfon’s relatives sought assistance from the Deputy Minister of Education. Thep, who is Namfon’s boyfriend, claimed during his statement to the Mueang Kanchanaburi Police Station that the incident was an accident. He alleged that a verbal altercation occurred inside a vehicle, during which he was struck on the head with a bottle. He stated that he reacted by grabbing a container and splashing its contents, claiming he was unaware it contained acid. Conversely, the second suspect, Dam, has denied any involvement in the attack.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights a serious criminal matter currently under investigation. While the suspect claims the act was unintentional and expresses remorse toward the victim and her family, the legal proceedings are ongoing.
