Court Sentences Dr. Rienthong Naen-nua for Defamation
The Criminal Court has handed down a suspended prison sentence and a fine to Dr. Rienthong Naen-nua following a defamation lawsuit filed by a noodle shop owner.
On August 28, 2026, the Criminal Court in Bangkok delivered a verdict in a defamation case involving Major General Dr. Rienthong Naen-nua. The court sentenced Dr. Rienthong to three years in prison, suspended for two years, and imposed a fine of 300,000 baht.
According to Khaosod Online, the lawsuit was initiated by the owner of 'Tang Hok Kee Cantonese Noodles.' The legal action stemmed from social media posts made by Dr. Rienthong on February 19, 2023, in which he publicly accused the business owner of being an 'enemy of the state.' The plaintiff argued that these accusations, disseminated to a large audience on the defendant's public Facebook page, caused significant damage to the reputation and operations of the established noodle shop.
