Tragic Drowning Incident in Tak Province
A 50-year-old migrant worker was found dead in a shallow water basin in Phop Phra district, Tak province, following a suspected accident during heavy rain.
On August 28, 2026, local authorities in Phop Phra district, Tak province, discovered the body of a 50-year-old Myanmar national, identified as Mr. Ya Khai, in a small water basin located within a cornfield. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the victim was found face-down in approximately 30 centimeters of water.
Police investigators noted that there were signs of slipping on the muddy bank near the basin. Preliminary examinations of the body revealed no signs of physical assault. Local residents reported that the deceased was known to consume alcohol regularly and suffered from epilepsy. Authorities hypothesize that the man may have been searching for frogs during heavy rainfall when he either slipped due to intoxication or suffered a sudden epileptic seizure, causing him to fall into the shallow water and drown without assistance.
