Police Officer Faces Disciplinary Action After Alleged Drug Use During Online Training
A police officer from Phatthalung province has reported for duty after a two-week disappearance following allegations of drug use during a virtual training session.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, a police officer identified as 'Pol. Sgt. Maj. A' from the Thale Noi Police Station in Phatthalung province has reported to his superiors after being missing for nearly two weeks. The officer had been under investigation following an incident on August 10, 2026, during a virtual training session for 259 officers organized by the Provincial Police Region 9. During the Zoom session, the officer was allegedly observed using narcotics on camera by his colleagues.
Following the incident, the officer disappeared and failed to report for work. Pol. Col. Rangsee Manjit, Superintendent of Thale Noi Police Station, stated that the officer finally appeared on August 28, 2026. While an initial urine test conducted upon his return did not detect narcotics, authorities have sent blood and hair samples for further forensic analysis to confirm the presence of substances.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights ongoing internal oversight within the Royal Thai Police. While the officer is currently facing disciplinary and criminal proceedings—as authorities maintain that the alleged offense was completed at the time of the broadcast—the final outcome remains subject to the results of the forensic testing.
