Prime Minister Warns CP Group Over High-Speed Rail Contract Termination Request
Thailand's Prime Minister has cautioned the CP Group that terminating their high-speed rail contract could lead to blacklisting and financial liability.
According to a report by Prachachat Business on August 28, 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has addressed the request from the CP Group to terminate the contract for the high-speed rail project connecting three major airports. The Prime Minister stated that such a request is unprecedented, noting that no private entity has previously attempted to abandon a state project in this manner.
Anutin emphasized that the government must adhere to the Prime Minister's Office regulations regarding the responsibility for any resulting financial differences. He warned that if the company proceeds with abandoning the project, they could face being placed on a government blacklist. The Prime Minister plans to hold discussions with the Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) next week to address the situation.
