Investigation Underway Following Acid Attack in Kanchanaburi
A man has surrendered to police in Kanchanaburi after allegedly throwing acid on his girlfriend, claiming the act was a defensive reaction during an argument.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, a man has turned himself in to the Mueang Kanchanaburi Police Station following an incident involving an acid attack on his 32-year-old girlfriend, identified as Namfon. The victim’s family has publicly sought justice, alleging that the suspect lured the woman into a car, held her down, and had an accomplice pour acid over her head and body. The victim reportedly escaped after the vehicle crashed into a road barrier.
The suspect claims that a verbal altercation occurred inside the vehicle, during which he was struck on the head with a bottle. He asserts that he grabbed a container and splashed the liquid in a state of panic, claiming he was unaware it contained acid. Police and local authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage, which shows the suspect’s white sedan driving away from the scene with hazard lights on before the subsequent accident.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights a serious criminal matter currently under investigation. While the suspect has surrendered, police have not yet filed formal charges.
