Investigation Uncovers Alleged Exam Fraud Scheme in Sisaket
Thai authorities have exposed an alleged bribery network involving local government recruitment, with over 100 individuals reportedly targeted for fraudulent exam assistance.
On August 27, 2026, Major General Jaroonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, announced the arrest of two individuals, identified as Mr. Prawit (known as 'Mayor Heng') and Ms. Nawaporn, a local administrative official in Sisaket province. The arrests follow allegations that the pair demanded 650,000 baht per person to guarantee successful recruitment into local government positions.
According to the investigation, the scheme allegedly targeted over 100 applicants, with 57 individuals already successfully placed in government roles through these illicit means. This operation follows a previous arrest involving a police officer, Sergeant Pichit, which prompted the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to involve the Anti-Corruption Division (ACD) in the ongoing inquiry. The current case was initiated after victims filed complaints regarding the fraudulent recruitment process.
