16-Year-Old Student Detained Over AI-Generated Threat in Nong Khai
A 16-year-old student was detained by police in Tha Bo, Nong Khai, after posting an AI-generated image of a handgun and threatening messages in a school group chat.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, police in Tha Bo, Nong Khai, have detained a 16-year-old female student following a series of alarming posts in a local school’s Line OpenChat group. The student, using the alias 'Kiles Haeng Kam,' shared an image of a black handgun placed on a classroom desk, accompanied by threatening messages asking if peers wanted to see 'something loud' and specifying 'Building 6' as a target location.
The posts caused significant panic among students, teachers, and parents, marking the second time such a threat has occurred at the school. Upon investigation, the student confessed to the act, claiming it was a prank born of impulsivity and that the image of the firearm was generated using AI. She has since promised not to repeat the behavior.
For residents and visitors, this incident highlights the serious legal consequences of posting threats online in Thailand. Police have issued a stern warning that all individuals who post such content will be tracked and prosecuted, regardless of their intent.
