Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce Implements Measures to Support Domestic Corn Prices

According to a report by Prachachat Business on August 27, 2026, the Thai Ministry of Commerce is taking steps to stabilize domestic animal feed corn prices as the harvest season begins. Ministry spokesperson Wittayakorn Maneenetr clarified that a previously discussed 120,000-ton shipment of corn from the United States remains within the existing 3:1 import ratio framework and does not represent an additional quota.

To support local farmers, the Ministry has requested that animal feed producers delay further imports until after the New Year. Additionally, Weerachai of the Public Warehouse Organization (PWO) confirmed that the agency has officially canceled its plans to import corn. The Ministry is also intensifying inspections at corn purchasing centers to ensure market stability.

For residents and travelers, these measures are primarily focused on agricultural supply chain management and are unlikely to cause immediate disruptions to daily life.
