Preserving Tradition: The New Home of Wayubut Youth Arts

According to a report by Khaosod Online, the Wayubut youth group has established a new home, 'Baan Silp Thara Wayubut,' located near Phasi Charoen Canal and Wat Nimman Noradee. Founded by Sarawut 'Kru Ball' Chantarawanman, the center serves as a hub for teaching traditional Thai arts, including Khon dance and small puppet theater (Hun Lakhon Lek).

Kru Ball emphasizes that the space is designed to be an inclusive community home where local children can gather, study, or practice arts free of charge. The training process is rigorous; students must master Khon dance techniques, physical conditioning, and rhythm before advancing to puppet manipulation, a journey that can take up to eight years. Students like Sornsilp Nuchwongnach, who has trained for several years, note that the discipline required for these arts fosters significant physical strength and patience.

For residents and travelers, this center represents a grassroots effort to keep intangible cultural heritage alive. While the center is open to the community, those interested in visiting or observing should be mindful that this is primarily a dedicated learning space for youth.
