Vehicle Fire Causes Significant Damage in Saraphi, Chiang Mai
A car fire in a residential garage in Chiang Mai resulted in extensive property damage, including two motorcycles and a kitchen area.
On August 27, 2026, a fire broke out at a residence in the Saraphi District of Chiang Mai, Thailand. According to a report by Khaosod Online, the blaze originated in a garage, completely destroying a sedan and damaging two motorcycles parked nearby. The fire also spread to an adjacent kitchen area before local fire crews from the Saraphi Subdistrict Municipality were able to bring the situation under control within approximately 30 minutes.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Phantharak Kruawong, the investigating officer from Saraphi Police Station, confirmed that the total estimated damage exceeds 500,000 THB. While authorities have preliminarily suggested that a short circuit may have been the cause of the fire, an official investigation is currently underway to determine the exact origin of the blaze.
For residents and travelers in the area, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining electrical systems in vehicles and residential structures, particularly in hot climates where wiring may degrade. As the investigation continues, local authorities are working to confirm the definitive cause. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the owner of the property has been identified as Mr. Adul Khan-ngern.
