On August 27, 2026, the Anti-Corruption Division (ACD) of the Thai police arrested 62-year-old Prawit Wanitratkun, also known as 'Mayor Heng' or 'Phu Yai Heng,' at a condominium in Bangkok’s Bang Sue district. The arrest follows an investigation into allegations of bribery related to local government recruitment examinations in Sisaket province. Police Major General Jaroonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, stated that investigators had gathered sufficient evidence to secure an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases.
